From 12 to 14 June 2025, on the island of Ventotene, the Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU took part in the conference “Safeguarding Democracy in the Digital Age: The Role of the European Union”.
The conference was organized by the European project "Post-truth Politics and the Resilience of the Public Sphere in Europe" (POPSPHERE), with the participation of Com4T.EU, members of the scientific and organizing committee, and under the patronage of the Municipality of Ventotene.
This initiative offered a space for discussion among academics, institutional representatives, journalists, and European stakeholders to reflect on one of the most important challenges of our digital age: protecting democracy in the era of social media and disinformation.
Key topics included: regulation of digital platforms, online political participation, media pluralism, safeguarding democratic values.
On Monday, February 17, from 12 p.m., the event “AI in the European Public Space” was held, at the Sala Lauree Rossa on the Campus Luigi Einaudi.
The event was organized by the Jean Monnet Com4T.EU Chair in partnership with AI Debating, CPP (Comunicazione Pubblica e Politica) and TO-EU (Centro Studi sull'Europa).
The event was an opportunity to inaugurate the new academic year for the master's degree program Comunicazione Pubblica e Politica.
The MagIA Magazine dedicated to artificial intelligence was presented during the event.
The kick-off meeting of the Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU was held on December 20th 2023, from 9.00 to 13.30, at the Luigi Einaudi Campus (University of Turin). In the first session, the project of the Chair was presented. In the second session, a roundtable was organized to discuss about citizen engagement across Europe. The event was organized in a hybrid mode.
