From March 31 to April 4, 2025, the new edition of the Italy-France Cross-Border Dialogues will take place, a project funded by the European Commission involving 9 Europe Direct centers and young people from Piemonte and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The first 3 days will be held in Turin, and the last 2 in Lyon.

The initiative aims to reflect on the priorities of the European Union, encourage dialogue with local authorities, and enhance the communication and language skills of the participants.

On April 1, during the plenary session in Turin, Marinella Belluati addressed the theme "Communicating the transition, participating in the challenges," sparking a dialogue with young people on how to face change through communication.

Com4T.EU participated in the first day of the Interreg GO! event organized on March 27 and 28 in the cities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica. The event aims to present the results of public consultations that involved 15,000 citizens and stakeholders on the topic of the European Multiannual Financial Framework 2027-2034.

The topics addressed included border security, migration, environment, disaster prevention, and cooperation with EU candidate and neighboring countries.

Among the speakers: Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice President of the European Commission; Marta Kos, EU Commissioner for Enlargement; Aleksander Jevšek, Minister for Cohesion and Regional Development of Slovenia; Massimiliano Fedriga, President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.

On 17 March 2025, at the Teatro Regio in Turin, the opening ceremony of the 2024/2025 academic year of the University of Turin was held under the title “University and European citizenship - knowledge as a bridge to the future”.

The leitmotif of the speeches was the importance of enhancing European citizenship in the academic context, through mobility projects, as a fundamental tool for strengthening European integration. The aim is to turn knowledge into an essential tool to face future challenges, overcome cultural differences and promote a more united and cohesive society. 

On Monday, February 17, from 12 p.m., the event “AI in the European Public Space” was held, at the Sala Lauree Rossa on the Campus Luigi Einaudi. 

The event was organized by the Jean Monnet Com4T.EU Chair in partnership with AI Debating, CPP (Comunicazione Pubblica e Politica) and TO-EU (Centro Studi sull'Europa).

The event was an opportunity to inaugurate the new academic year for the master's degree program Comunicazione Pubblica e Politica. 

The MagIA Magazine dedicated to artificial intelligence was presented during the event. 

On Saturday, February 15, from 3 p.m., at the Europa Experience - David Sassoli space in Rome, the Call to Action “La partecipazione dei giovani nelle aree interne” was presented.  

The event was organized by the Give Back Giovani Aree Interne APS Association in partnership with the Jean Monnet Com4T.EU Chair, which contributed to the creation of the Call to Actions itself.

Com4T.EU participated in the second workshop of the Shape Torino project, which took place in Turin on February 8, 2025, organized by Visionary in partnership with GenZNow.

The project aims to create a youth council of individuals under 20, which will support the Youth Policy Department of the City of Turin. This group of 40 young people will help define local initiatives, bringing their voices and ideas to the table.

The workshop was an opportunity to provide participants with the tools needed to develop concrete proposals in the fields of policy making and active citizenship.

On February 6, 2024, the Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the seminar “Transizione digitale della PA, AI e Comunicazione pubblica” organized by the Ph.D program in Humanistic Studies at the University of Urbino, within the Digital Communication and Culture curriculum.

The seminar was an opportunity for young researchers to present their ongoing work on the digital transition of public administration and the impact of AI on public communication and organizational culture.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participates in a series of 5 workshop titled "FAKE NEUS: democrazia e disinformazione nell’UE”, organized by Apice Europa, with the support of Fondazione CRC.

The main topics covered include the transformation of the information landscape, disinformation, and the risks and opportunities posed by AI.

Professor Marinella Belluati participated in the session on January 24, 2024, titled “FAKE NEWS: democrazia e disinformazione nell’UE. Informazione, disinformazione e scarsa informazione nel e sull’Unione Europea: i rischi per la democrazia”.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU was involved in “FeedBack”, the Instagram series by the Give Back Giovani Aree Interne APS association, a partner of the Chair.

During the online session on December 12, 2024, titled “Giovani e partecipazione: la campagna di comunicazione per le elezioni europee 2024”, the topic discussed was youth participation in Europe, with a particular focus on the 2024 European Parliament elections.

On December 5 and 6, 2024, the Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the plenary session of the Club of Venice, an informal forum that brings together the heads of institutional communication from EU member states.

The discussions focused on communication strategies to enhance citizen trust, addressing key issues such as disinformation, the fight against climate change, and transparency policies regarding artificial intelligence.

Com4T.EU participated in the Policy Lab organized in Turin on November 28 and 29, by 20e30 and The Good Lobby Italia. 

The event provided an opportunity to discuss the topic of civic lobbying, the use of data to influence public decisions, the role of private individuals and institutions, the importance and strength of coalitions, and much more.

Participants had the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge they gathered into practice through a role-playing game organized in collaboration with the Jean Monnet Com4T.EU Chair. 

On October 21, 2024, professor Marinella Belluati, Com4T.EU Chair holder, was interviewed by Alma Radio in Brussels. 

The interview focused on the challenges of digital communication, examining the impact of social media and the transformation of traditional media in the digital age.

During the Instagram Live on October 17, 2024, titled “Comunicare l'Europa: l’esperienza del monitoraggio civico”, the conversation centered on the role of institutional communication in the context of civic monitoring.

On September 26, 2024, the conference “L’Europa a scuola” was held at the Metropolitan City of Turin, organized by the Europe Direct Torino center. 

The event served as a training meeting for teachers and school leaders on the European Union, aiming to promote the European dimension in education and training.

From September 12 to 14, 2024 Com4T.EU participated in the annual conference of the Italian Society of Political Science (SISP) at the University of Trieste. 

The Jean Monnet Chair participated in the panel “Youth engagement in the European public sphere: communication flows and challenges” and discussed in depth the theme linking youth, elections and Europe. 

Com4T.EU participated in the Summer School “Communicating Europe, Building Europe",  organized by AUSE - University Association of European Studies at the Collegio Emiliani, in Genoa Nervi, on September 4-7, 2024.

The Summer School focused on the role of communication in the process of European integration through the two sessions of the event, “Public history and popularizing the idea of Europe” and “Communication and building Europe.” 

Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the inaugural conference of the Jean Monnet Chair “Verba volant, sed imperant? The legal challenges of EU Communication” organized on September 6, 2024 at the University of Ferrara. 

The conference was an opportunity to discuss the possible legal implications of European communication and its impact on EU policy. 

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU was a partner in Ruralthon, the Hackathon for Inner Areas, an Erasmus project by Give Back Giovani Aree Interne APS.

This initiative brought together young people from across Italy and policymakers to explore the potential for entrepreneurship and social innovation within rural communities, while preserving local heritage.

Participants had the opportunity to reflect on the resources and opportunities of inner areas, developing creative and cooperative ideas for local sustainable development.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the workshop “FAKE POLITICS” organized by the Feltrinelli Foundation in Milan on June 26, 2024. 

The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the impact of digitalization on information, the media and, most importantly, on democracy.

Com4T.EU participated in the VI Conference of the Italian Scientific of Sociology, Culture, Communication titled "Can we still understand the Society?, Understanding, Prediction, Critique" held at the Sapienza University of Rome on June 20-21, 2024.

During the event, the topic of European institutional communication was discussed, and preliminary research results on youth participation in the European Election were presented together with Sapienza and Messina universities. 

On June 10, 2024, professor Marinella Belluati, holder of the Com4T.EU Chair, was interviewed by GRP News to share insights on what to expect from the 2024 European elections, exploring key issues and potential outcomes.

On June 9, 2024, "La notte bianca delle elezioni europee” took place at the Polo del ’900, Turin.

The event was organized to anticipate and discuss the results of the 2024 European elections. 

Professor Marinella Belluati, Com4T.EU Chair holder, participated in the event, contributing to the reflections on the election outcomes and their implications for the future of Europe.

The Jean Monnet Chair took part in the online webinar EUR-Active Citizens on June 3, 2024. 

The event focused on opportunities within the Erasmus+ program and highlighted best practices for engaging young people in active citizenship initiatives.

On June, 3, 2024 professor Marinella Belluati, Com4T.EU Chair holder, was interviewed by TV news Piemonte - Rai to discuss what it means to communicate Europe, in the context of the upcoming 2024 European election.

Com4T.EU participated in the annual conference of the Italian Association of Political Communication (COMPOL) at the University of Catania from May 30 to June 1, 2024.

Professor Marinella Belluati, Com4T.EU Chair holder, spoke during the round table "The media construction of Europe. Where is the Union (almost) 20 years later. In dialogue with the ideas of Carlo Marletti".

The results of the ongoing research project on the engagement of informal groups in the new European Public Sphere during the 2024 European elections were presented.

On Tuesday, May 28th, at 2:30 pm, in the Panoramic Hall of the Metropolitan City of Turin, Alba Garavet (University of Turin, Europe Direct Turin) gave the final lecture of the Laboratory on EU Cohesion Policies and communication strategies for territories. 

Students from the laboratory shared their experiences monitoring PNRR projects and discussed with institutional and academic representatives.

On Thursday, May 23, at 10 a.m., at the Gianni Merlini European Section of the Bobbio Library (Campus Luigi Einaudi), the new book written by professor Barbara Curli (University of Turin), was presented.

The book is called "L'Europa senza retorica. Percorsi dell'integrazione europea in Miriam Camps, Rosi Braidotti, Zodie Smith".

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the first local edition of the European Youth Event in Italy, organised by Punto Europa and University of Bologna.

The initiative took place in Forlì (FC) from May 17 to 19, 2024. 

During the EYE, more than 4,000 young people from all over Europe met to discuss the present and future of Europe through the numerous activities proposed by the associations involved.

During the Instagram Live session on May 20, 2024, titled “Europa e giovani, da Bucarest a Forlì”, the discussion focused on key insights from the Global Forum on Direct Modern Democracy in Bucharest and the European Youth Event in Forlì, exploring the themes of Europe and youth engagement.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy held in Bucharest from May 15 to 18, 2024.

The event provided an important opportunity to engage in discussions with experts on the theme of trust in democracy.

In particular, Com4T.EU contributed to the roundtable on “Youth and Europe” on May 16, 2024, in collaboration with its partner, Give Back Giovani Aree Interne APS.

On Friday, 17 May 2024, at 6 p.m., at the OGR Turin, the magazine Artificial Intelligence MagIA, developed by the University of Turin in collaboration with SIpEIA, was launched, along with the presentation of the book "Algorithmic Intimacy" by Anthony Elliott.

Between May 9 and 13, the XXXVIII edition of the International Book Fair of Turin took place. 

Professor Marinella Belluati, Com4T.EU Chair holder, participated in the following initiatives, aligned with the key themes of the Chair - European communication, digitalization, and AI:

• “Raccontando l’Europa - Esperienze, idee e sogni dei giovani europei”, organized by the Regional Council of Piedmont and the European Consultation;

• “SorriderAI: l’impatto dell’intelligenza artificiale nella vita di tutti i giorni”, organized by AIAware, Sipeia and the Center for European Studies (TO-EU);

• Presentation of the book by Irene Doda “L’utopia dei miliardari. Analisi e critica del lungotermismo”, organized by the University of Turin.

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, Com4T.EU and Europa Aperta organized the event "The EU in Barriera: the narrative of the EU elections; Barriera and the EU". 

The activities included: a lecture about the institutional campaign for the EU elections, and a walk through the neighborhood of Barriera di Milano (Turin) to discover some areas improved with European funds.

On May 9, 2024, at the Centro Studi San Carlo in Turin, the “Green Paper: Let’s Write the Future of Europe Together” was presented.

The event was organized by Movimento Europeo Italia, Movimento Federalista Europeo, and European Movement International.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the event “Comunicazione e partecipazione in Europa: verso il voto dell’8 e 9 Giugno” organized by the University of Florence on May 6, 2024. 

The event focused on discussing the role of EU communication in the context of the 2024 European Parliament elections, highlighting the importance of effective communication strategies to engage citizens in the electoral process.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the event “EUVoter: quanto incidono le elezioni europee sulla tua vita e sul nostro futuro?”, organized by Aurive on April 14, 2024, at the Liceo Scientifico Alessandro Antonelli, Novara.

This school meeting aimed to engage young people under 25, raising awareness about the importance of voting and exploring the impact of the European Parliament elections on their lives and the future of the European Union.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the high education lecture “Politiké - Scuola di politica per giovani cittadinə”, held on March 23, 2024. 

The event was organized by the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the seminar “Il Parlamento europeo in prospettiva storica e la campagna elettorale dei partiti europei” coordinated by the Einstein Center for International Studies (CESI) and supported by Polo del ’900, on March 22, 2024. 

The event provided a valuable opportunity to raise public awareness about the significance of the 2024 European Parliament elections, fostering a deeper understanding of their historical context and the ongoing electoral campaigns of European political parties.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the high education lecture and advanced training classes on European issues, as part of the legal training seminar on migration, organized by the Department of law at the University of Turin, on March 15, 2024.

AI in action, the cycle of meetings on Artificial Intelligence, started on March 7, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the University of Turin (Aula magna - Campus Luigi Einaudi).

The initiative was organized by the student representative list “Obiettivo Studenti”, funded by the University of Turin and sponsored by the three departments on the Campus Luigi Einaudi: Law; Culture, Politics and Society; and Economics and Statistics.

The first meeting was the occasion to discuss the new European regulation on Artificial Intelligence and its implications in Public Administration.

On March 6, 2024, professor Marinella Belluati, Com4T.EU Chair holder, was interviewed during the TV program Casa Italia - Rai to discuss the role of bottom-up forms of participation, particularly those driven by youth networks, within the broader context of European communication. 

The conversation explored how these grassroots movements contribute to shape and enhance EU communication strategies.

The Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU participated in the event “Comunicare l'Europa - Verso le elezioni europee” organized on February 29, 2024 by Europe Direct Turin, Vercelli, and Cuneo. 

The open meeting aimed to foster a constructive dialogue with the public, encouraging reflection on the development of the European Union in the context of the upcoming European Parliament elections on June 8-9, 2024.

The "AI: Ethics and Innovation in 2024" workshop provided an opportunity to further discuss the opportunities and challenges related to AI and new technologies. It took place on February 7, 2024, at the University of Turin (Campus Luigi Einaudi, Sala Lauree Blu) from 11 am to 3 pm.

The event was organized by the University of Turin, 2i3T - Business Incubator of the University of Turin, the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society and AI Aware.

On February 5, 2024, the Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU was presented at the Department of Culture, Politics, and Society at the University of Turin. 

The event provided an opportunity to present the activities of Com4T.EU, which focuses on the role of institutional and public communication in relation to European Union issues.

Com4T.EU participated in the international conference "Public sphere in Europe between communication and disinformation" organized by the Department of Political Science at the University of Catania on February 1st and 2nd, 2024.

The conference, part of the project "Post-truth politics and the resilience of the public sphere in Europe (POPSPHERE)", provided an opportunity to examine the responses of European communication policies to post-truth politics, taking into account the risks of disinformation and emerging communication practices in the European Union's public sphere.

"Rural Youth For EU: Towards The Next European Elections" was a seminary co-organised by the Jean Monnet Chair Com4T.EU, Give Back Giovani Aree Interne, the European Parliament Representation in Italy and the Europe Direct Centre ROMA TRE. It took place on January 27th from 3pm to 5 pm at Europe-Experience David Sassoli in Rome (Roma, P.zza Venezia 6c). 

The seminar was the occasion to discuss about youth, participation and Europe with a particular focus on the European elections 2024. 

MEPs, scholars, and representatives from the Third Sector and civil society participated in the event, which aimed to define a call to action to promote youth civic engagement in rural and marginalized areas, to be subsequently presented to policymakers.
